Yoga is a wonderful gift to oneself - it is the exploration of the self in the present moment. My teaching emphasises the integration of mind, body and breath to bring about the experience of harmony and well-being:

Finding our own strength, energy, flexibility, balance and co-ordination.

Supporting our internal body - circulation, breathing, digestion, hormonal and nervous systems.

Stilling the mind, expanding awareness and relaxing deeply to experience inner peace.

There are many different ways yoga can help. As a regular practice, it brings us back in touch with ourselves and gives us a toolbox of exercises to support us in our lives.

There are the physical benefits - helping to strengthen the body or become more flexible. Yoga releases the tension created by sedentary lifestyles, computer work and driving, alleviating back pain. It will aid our recovery after an injury or operation.

It is a way of recharging our batteries. Yoga can calm and soothe us, mentally and physically, when life is bumpy or as we making major changes. Re-energising those caring for others, helping those suffering with anxiety, grief or depression.

There are yoga exercises to help put people back into control over personal bodily functions, replacing shallow breathing with a healthier breathing patterns, improving digestion, alleviating constipation and IBS, improving stress incontinence (leaking when coughing or sneezing).

At a deeper level, yoga improves the internal workings of the body, stimulating the circulation and the flow of lymph, which cleanses cell debris and toxins. It's also been shown that yoga reduces the levels of Cortisol, the hormone that makes us feel anxious or stressed.
